Clase Azul Reposado & Gold Limited Edition Tequila Bundle

Presented in an individually hand-sculpted and painted bottle, Clase Azul Reposada Tequila is world-class, exquisite, deep amber luxury tequila. It has zero burn, is smooth and tastes like cream soda, but even more sugary. It is more balanced than a blanco and has a soft finished taste. The Clase Azul Gold is a rare blend of Clase Azul Plata and Clase Azul Ultra Anejo aged for 8 years. The blend of tequilas and aging creates a surprisingly smooth taste that satisfies even the most discerning palate. The special decanter for this tequila is a combination of glass and ceramic. The base is ceramic decorated with 24 carat gold. A most desirable bundle!

Why Is Azul Tequila So Expensive

100% blue agave makes every bottle of Clase Azul tequila. The agave core is ground down to extract every last drop and collected to begin the fermentation process using their proprietary yeast. Every variety of tequila made by Clase Azul uses a particular type of agave to make distinctive flavors across the entire Clase Azul family.

While the tequila is aging, artists set to work individually hand-making the ceramic decanters that will eventually house the tequila. Every decanter is hand-painted and designed to reflect the culture that inspired every variety of their tequila.

This attention to detail and artisanal handling does come at a cost, however. The starting price for a bottle of Clase Azul tequila is just over $100, and the price can rise as high as $2,000 depending on rarity. Some bottles are limited editions made in small batches. For this reason, Clase Azul tequila is considered a higher-end tequila, and the price quickly increases with the rarer varieties.

Tequila may have a wild and crazy reputation, but this unique spirit is created according to strict guidelines, guaranteeing authenticity and consistency. Its distilled from the fermented juice of the Weber blue agave plant, and comes only from a specified region of Mexico, centered around the western state of Jalisco.

Tequila production begins with the agave plant, cultivated in Mexicos desert regions. Early civilizations believed agave was a gift from the gods, which they used as a source for food, fibers and building materials. They would cut off the top of the plant, and the remaining stump filled with a liquid called aguamiel that would ferment into a cloudy, low-alcohol drink.

The Spanish introduced distillation to Mexico in the 1500s. The technique, used on aquamiel, produced the spirit they dubbed vino mezcal de Tequila. Mezcal was soon being made across Mexico, though the colonys rulers in Spain intermittently banned production of the spirit when they wanted to encourage imports from Spain and hiked taxes on it when money was needed for public projects.

Spain lifted the ban for good in 1792, and in 1795 gave a license for the production of tequila to Jose María Guadalupe de Cuervo, maker of what is now the worlds best-selling tequila, Jose Cuervo.

How Is Clase Azul Reposado Made

Clase Azul, special bottles for special tequila

Clase Azul Reposado is distilled from 100% blue agave at one of the highest altitudes in Mexico. The higher altitude contributes a unique tequila flavor because of the climate and soil. All agave used for Clase Azul Reposado is grown between six and eight years before it is harvested, its core removed, and prepared for cooking. The cooking process takes three days and is done in old masonry ovens. This cooking of the agave core brings out the iconic sweetness in the spirit. The cooked agave core is pressed and extracted from all of its moisture, which is separated and transferred for fermentation with proprietary yeast. The tequila is then distilled twice to achieve a perfect balance of flavors and the best possible quality, the site notes.

The word “reposado” means “rested” in English. In the case of Clase Azul Reposado, that resting period takes place in American whiskey barrels for a total of eight months. This is where the reposado accumulates its color, texture, and most of its flavor. The fibers of the oak casks infuse the tequila with a soothing warmness and extraordinary smoothness, according to Clase Azul.

Finally, the reposado fills the expertly crafted ceramic bottles made with ancient techniques honoring the artists’ and land’s rich ancestry. Everything from the soil that springs forth, to the agave, to the finishing touches carefully made on each bottle makes Clase Azul Reposado a product of the dedication to excellence and cultural reverence.

What Is Clase Azul Mezcal

Clase Azul mezcal is one of the premium products from Clase Azul spirits. It is the first luxury mezcal that uses agaves from the state of Guerrero and the mountainous state of Durango.

Both regions have mineral-rich soil and extreme climate conditions that contribute a particular force that helps with the complexity and flavor of the agaves. The Mazahua artisans make the decanter, while the Wixárika artisans make the equally unique caps.

It’s The World’s Most Wanted Tequila

Every year, Wine-Searcher publishes a list of the most popular products in a given category. Between March 2021 and March 2022, the ten most wanted tequilas included three products by Clase Azul. It was their reposado, however, that topped the list altogether. Despite Jose Cuervo’s market dominance and the influx of celebrity-owned and advertised tequilas now available, Clase Azul Reposado remains at the apex of its class.

Within that same 12-month time frame, tequila searches on Wine-Searcher increased by over 250%. This comes as no surprise as the spirits and cocktail renaissance of the past couple of decades has been mostly driven by tequila. What used to be considered a cheap option used only for hasty intoxication has seen its revival from the back of the bar to being sipped and enjoyed neat.

Additionally, the price tag on these newly appreciated bottles does not seem to matter, according to Wine-Searcher. People are clearly putting their money forward to taste these premium spirits and do not seem to be doing so based on any celebrity cachet. Instead, it is the product with a dedication to quality that is leading the way. Clase Azul Reposado tops this list because of characteristics you will not find in a commercial or photo shoot. They can only be found by holding the bottle in your own hands and experiencing the fruits of its labor yourself.

Clase Azul In The Painted Porcelain Decanter

Making A Tequila Bottle Into A lamp

Back to the reposado decanters, because theyre almost as important as whats inside. In the town of Santa Maria Canchesda, the workshop of pottery makers and painters has grown to more than 350 artisans. They craft each bottle by hand, so none of them are exactly alike. The company says that each bottle takes two weeks to complete. Two weeks!

Now that Clase Azul price of around $150 in the USA, $90 in Mexico seems like a bargain. You could easily pay that much for a piece of quality talavera pottery in Puebla, but in this deal youre getting reposado tequila inside thats way above some higher-priced brands as well.

The hand-painted pottery is topped by a silver-plated dome and cork, crowning the decanter with a gleam. If youre looking for a special holiday gift for an important business client or tequila lover, you cant go wrong with this one. If you cant tell, Clase Azul tequila is one of my clear favorites.

You can find this brand in good duty-free stores at airports, so its an easy one to pick up on the way home, but youll probably pay less if you pick it up in a Mexican liquor store or supermarket. Itll probably be in a locked section and not out on the regular shelf though, so ask if you dont see it. You can also order it from many online spirits sellers in the USA and elsewhere.

Clase Azul Tequila Gold

As the name suggests, Tequila Gold is a tremendous goldmine of flavor. Moreover, the profound, rich, and smooth taste lay in the clever combination of Tequila Plata, a special reposado, and a special Anejo aged in whiskey casks and finished in sherry casks.

Moreover, seafood, fish like tuna, brie cheese tapas, and chocolate are good pairings for this tequila.

Taste and Aroma:

Medium-bodied, it offers a fusion of flavors consisting of toasted wood, green olive, fig, dark chocolate, and ginger. Agave syrup, orange peel, green apple, raisins, and orange are some of the unique aromas.

The glass and black ceramic combination dramatize its fiery Mexican artistry, elegance, and luxury. In addition, it is uniquely a league of its own.

What Does Clase Azul Reposado Taste Like

Every aspect of Clase Azul Reposado makes it unlike any other tequila, and its taste is no exception. According to 31 Whiskey, the aromas include those of traditional tequila such as sweet agave and herbs. Still, those notes are enhanced even further with that of caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. This depth and complexity are normally only found in high-quality añejo tequilas, which are aged for a longer amount of time. Clase Azul Reposado, however, encapsulates and exceeds that same profoundness.

After opening with an initial rich sweetness from the cooked agave, the mid-palate is introduced to aged oak with hints of orange peel before a toasty conclusion is rounded out and elongated by spice and rich vanilla, Liquor reports. The layered experience of every sip brings something fresh each time, and those ever-evolving recollections are what make Clase Azul Reposado a gift that keeps on giving.

The flavor of Clase Azul Reposado is dense, layered, and complex. However, the experience of holding this special bottle in your hand, removing its cap, and sharing it with your friends or family all while being aware of where it comes from and what it represents makes for an intangible quality.

Dessert Pairings Are Recommended With Clase Azul Reposado

A spirit can fulfill a variety of purposes, whether it be sipped before a meal to prepare your appetite, after a meal to bring it to a close, or any place in between. Tequila is typically enjoyed in bright and refreshing cocktails, but Clase Azul actually recommends that a tequila as high-quality and decadent as its reposado be accompanied by a dessert.

In addition to being paired with a rich cut of pork or creamy, aged cheese, Clase Azul suggests its reposado sit alongside a bittersweet chocolate mousse with hazelnut and orange. Because reposado tequila is aged, it carries flavor notes accumulated from the wooden container it sits in. Clase Azul Reposado is aged in American oak barrels, the same used for bourbon whiskey, which gives the reposado deep, warm flavor notes, like caramel and vanilla. These sweeter flavors are well-balanced and enhanced with bittersweet chocolate of 78% cacao, according to Lindt.

There are dessert cocktails and spirits meant for after the meal entirely. Of course, Clase Azul Reposado is delicious enough to not require any sidekicks, but a luxurious pairing of select chocolate with this premium tequila is just another reason why Clase Azul Reposado stands apart from the pack.
