Buying liquor in PA remains archaic and outdated, but I know a guy who works for the state and might be able to give me a heads up. I will effort that information.

Senate Approves Wine Spirits Bottle Recycling Bill

SACRAMENTO The California Senate today voted unanimously to approve legislation written by Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins, D-San Diego, and co-written by Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to add wine and distilled spirits bottles to Californias recycling program.

I am really pleased that so many of our Senate colleagues recognized the importance of this common sense bill that benefits our environment and consumers, Sen. Dodd said. With SB 1013 we can increase the recycling rates of millions of bottles that would otherwise wind up in our landfills or be illegally discarded. I look forward to seeing this bill with all its benefits for California pass the Assembly and be signed by Gov. Newsom.

SB 1013 is historic change that is 40 years in the making, Pro Tem Atkins said. I want to commend the wine industry, distilled spirits industry, environmental advocates, and other groups who have come together to support this landmark proposal. We will continue working with stakeholders as the bill moves through the Assembly to make sure remaining concerns are addressed, and then, hopefully, 2022 will be the year we can pop a cork and celebrate this overdue improvement to Californias recycling law.

It passed the Senate with unanimous, bipartisan support. It heads next to the Assembly.

Seven of our wines can be purchased at certain Wine and Spirits Stores that are run by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Availability depends on the particular wine. Five wines are available in Region 2, which is central PA. One more wine is limited to the PA Preferred program.

If your county is on the list, but your local store does not carry the wine, you might ask the Store Manager or Wine Specialist if it can be ordered. Giving them the PLCB Code # will be helpful.

This store is always clean and well-stocked, and every member of the staff I have interacted with has been courteous and helpful. I was in the shop today and a gentleman named Sean helped me pick out a few gifts for my wife. Sean was very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. I always have a good experience in this store, but today in particular was especially pleasant.

Newly remodeled, this FW& GS is updated with bright colors and wider aisles. While the state stores are no longer our only option for wine, it’s still a good place to shop. And hey, I can’t get my fancy liquor on a cruise ship right now. It’s more expensive here, but I won’t do without, either.The employees are always nice. The store is clean and tidy. I don’t think the state government should be in sales of any kind, but they do a good job with the liquor stores.
