Stroh 80 is an internationally renowned Austrian rum produced by Sebastian Stroh. Austria Gmbh is still using the original historic recipe. Today Stroh is the leading brand in Austria and is sold in about 40 countries worldwide.

The history of the Inländer Rum dates back to the times of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy when the navy received a daily ration of rum for medical reasons. However, this tradition was later abolished, and since there was no sugar cane cultivation in Austria, it was virtually impossible to produce local rum. So in 1832, Sebastian Stroh began a series of experiments to distil beet with the addition of flavourings and colourings. This rum replacement distillate, called “Inländer Rum” to distinguish it from imported rum, becomes a distinct product with scents of butter candy and vanilla. Today the Inländer Rum is a protected Austrian speciality: it must be produced 100% in Austria from sugar cane molasses.

Stroh 80 is a piece of Austrian culinary culture and lifestyle. It is an indispensable ingredient not only for confectionery but also for cocktails**. Drink it alone or try it as an ingredient in a delicious cocktail. Excellent if used in a “B52”.
