Flaming Dr Pepper Shot
There are few things as crowd-pleasing as setting a shot on fire, which makes this shot perfect if your party is starting to feel a little dull.
While igniting the overproof rum on the top of the shot glass looks impressive, it also adds flavor.
As the alcohol burns off the glass, it also caramelizes the amaretto liqueur for a nutty and sweet finish.
While theres no Dr. Pepper in this shot, once you toss the shot into a glass of beer, it tastes surprisingly like Dr. Pepper.

How To Make Malibu Jello Shots
You make Malibu jello shots the same way you would make any other jello shot, so its super easy!
While recipes can vary, the most common way of making jello shots is the following:
This will make 12-16 shots depending on how strong your pours are.
The following jello shot recipes use this method or variations of this method, but you can take lot of creative liberties when making jello shots.
Ultimately, the only real rules are 1. you need to have equal parts boiling liquid and cold liquid so it mixes and freezes properly and 2. you dont want to boil the Malibu because it would boil out the alcohol.
Whats The Best Alcohol To Use
Vodka is the classic alcohol to use in jello shots. You can also use flavored alcohols that pair with the jello you choose. For example, the fruity flavors in Malibu Rum can pair really well some of the Jell-O flavors. Please consume alcohol responsibly.
Despite the name, please dont try to take these like a shot all in one mouthful you could choke. Its much better to loosen the edges with your finger or a butter knife, then bite off a piece.

Can I Turn These Green Apple Vodka Jello Shots Into Caramel Apple Jello Shots
Yes! Caramel and green apple make for such a great flavor combination! An easy way to get a bit of caramel flavor into these shots is to substitute the 1/2 cup of vodka for 1/2 cup of caramel vodka.
You could even go all out and dip the rims of the shots glasses into a little bit of caramel sauce. My caramel sauce recipe that I make for my caramel apples works really well for this.

Why We Love Jello Shots
- Jello shots are hands down the most beloved college party cocktail ever! Vodka jello shots have been a staple with my friends and me ever since our 20s. Wed make them for Saturday nights at my friend Chriss house, take them tubing down the Salt River, and theyd pop up just about every time someone had a party.
- Honestly, whats not to love about jello shots?! Theyre easy to make, everyone loves them, and the variety of colors makes them extra fun. So clear out some space in your fridge and lets get mixing!
- This is your basic vodka jello shots recipe. Were not making them from scratch with unflavored gelatin. Were using boxes of flavored Jell-O gelatin mix to make these jell o shots. While I love cocktail-inspired jello shots, these classic jello shots with vodka are my go-to for any occasion that warrants em.
- The only real decision you have to make for this recipe is which flavor of Jell-O you want to use. Decisions decisions.
Blue Hawaiian Jello Shots Ingredients
- 1 box of berry blue jello mix
- 1 cup boiling water
- ¾ cup Malibu coconut rum
- ¼ cup blue curacao
- Fresh pineapple chunks
Use up to 1½ cups of alcohol for a stronger jello shot. For a lighter jello shot, you can use additional cold water or pineapple juice and not as much alcohol. You need four cups total of liquid to combine with the jello mixture.
SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS
PINEAPPLE JUICE: I like to get the little mini cans of pineapple juice to keep on hand in my pantry. This way, I do not need to open a large bottle of pineapple juice if I am only using it to make a couple of cocktails.

Ingredients Youll Need To Make Vodka Jello Shots
WATER: Just like regular jello, youll need some water for these shots.
JELLO MIX: This recipe uses 3-ounce boxes of jello. You can grab any flavor you like. If you can only find 6-ounce boxes, be sure to double the rest of the ingredients and have more cups on hand.
VODKA: You need regular vodka for standard jello shots. But the best vodka for jello shots is a good middle-shelf option.
Im not talking about high-end $35 a bottle stuff. Thats for martinis and vodka sodas. A $12 bottle of Absolut or Smirnoff will work just fine. Just dont pick a bottom shelf big plastic bottle. The cheaper vodka will come through in the shots and punch you in the face. You want a vodka thats a little smoother.

Can You Use Green Or Sour Apple Vodka Instead Of Sour Apple Schnapps
I chose to use schnapps instead of vodka because the schnapps makes these shots sweet, takes away that strong vodka flavor, and gives you the best tasting shots. If you don’t mind a more ‘vodka-tasting’ Jello shot then green apple vodka will work too! Just a side note- replacing vodka with schnapps will make these shots a tad bit stronger.
Since green apple vodka is not common, I did not call for using it in this recipe. You could though swap the regular vodka out for green apple vodka.
Why Not Use A Higher
Even if you’d like boozier shots, resist the urge to use a higher-proof liquor such as Everclear. Your best bet is to add a little more of an 80-proof liquor and cut a bit of the cold water. You’ll want to keep the alcohol content in check, for a few reasons:
- A clear vodka tastes better than Everclear.
- Often, people will have a few Jell-O shots along with other alcohol, so using Everclear in the shots can easily send a person over the edge.
- If you use a higher-proof liquor, you may have some issues getting the shots to set up, as liquor has a different freezing point than water, so you need to maintain a balance between the alcohol and the other liquids.

- These jello shots are so summery! I love a tropical drink during summer and turning it into jello shots makes it even more fun.
- They are surprisingly easy to make! Its as easy as dissolving gelatin with hot water and then stirring everything together. The hardest part is going to be waiting for them to set.
How To Make This Blue Hawaiian Jello Shots Recipe
STEP ONE: In a medium bowl or large measuring cup with a spout, combine jello mix and 1 cup of boiling water until jello is fully dissolved.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS
The ratio of each type of alcohol and fruit juice will vary the flavor somewhat you can adjust however you like. Do not use more than 2 cups of alcohol to ensure that the jello still sets up properly.
STEP THREE: Carefully pour jello mixture between small plastic jello shot cups. Fill just under the top so they dont spill.
Setting the jello shot glasses on a rimmed baking sheet will help make it easier to transport them to the fridge for chilling.
STEP FOUR: Transfer jello shots to the refrigerator and chill for 4 hours until set.
The jello shots may firm up faster than 4 hours. If you are using shallower plastic containers and if you use icy cold water for your cold water, they will not take as long to set.
STEP FIVE: Keep jello shots refrigerated until consuming. Just before serving, top each jello shot with a maraschino cherry and a small piece of fresh pineapple.
