The puntas, or distillers cut, of agave spirits have long been considered the most coveted part of the distillate and are traditionally set aside by the producer to be enjoyed with friends and family on special occasions. Along with his 80 proof Tequila Ocho, this is a favorite drink for legendary tequila maker Carlos Camarena of El Tesoro fame. The single estate agaves were harvested from the Camarena familys rancho La Ladera. Yes, it is legal to bring Mexican tequilas on a plane, provided that this is unopened and kept inside checked baggage.
There is also a limit of five liters for every person, whether bringing Blanco, Reposado, or Añejo.

An Earthy And Expressive Blanco
I almost did a double-take when I discovered that this earthy tequila was the sister to Cascahuín Plata 48, since the two have completely different aromas and flavors. Made with agaves that were crushed only by a large volcanic stone , this old-school beauty has a dark profile reminiscent of cooked ancho pepper, piloncillo syrup, and handfuls of wet volcanic soil. At 42% alcohol by volume, the Tahona Blanco is a touch lower in proof than the Plata this allows the flavors to mix and mingle like more of a mellow hum from start to finish.
